Women's Fiction Month - Beginning with a Blogfest!

Hello, everyone! It’s October, and, over here, that means women’s fiction month! Why? Because we don’t need a reason to have a month devoted to women and their amazing fiction, do we? And because I would like to meet some of the great women’s fiction writers out there and introduce some of them to you.

This month, everything posted here will be devoted to women’s fiction. I will have interviews with some awesome writers, guest posts by very interesting people, and, of course, an amazing contest to end our very girly month in great style!

To begin this great month and start the introductions, I’m having a Women Writing Fiction Blogfest.

Who can participate? Any woman writing commercial women’s fiction, literary women’s fiction, chick lit, romance, girly YA, or anything else written from a feminine POV that has women as a relevant (but not necessarily only) target audience.

How can you join? Just leave a comment with your name, the genre you write, a short introduction and your blog address. Check the comments section often and go to as many blogs as you can, see what other girls are writing and start interacting with other women writers.

Easy, right? So, go ahead and start commenting so we can begin our amazing women’s fiction month. And remember to come back and check the blog for new interviews and guest posts. The first interview, with Jodi Picoult (!), is coming out on Wednesday, October 6th. After that, I'll try to update the blog as often as I can to give you fresh content almost every day!

Oh, what is that you just said? You want to participate even more? Well, of course you can! If you want to write a guest post, or if you have someone to suggest for an interview, just shoot me an e-mail (gabrielalessacarvalho at gmail dot com) with your suggestion! I want to have as many voices as possible on this blog, so don’t be shy! It’s time to show the world that strong writing woman in you!

So, let’s get started! Who are you and what is your blog? Huh?

  3. Gabriela, thanks so much for telling me about Women's Fiction Month. For years I wrote what editors called "totally unmarketable" fiction, but lately, I've been trying out commercial fiction and even have a chick lit novel with an agent. Whoops. My agent told me I was NOT supposed to call my novel chick lit...sorry, agent! My website is at http://www.ja-pak.com/. Oh! And I have what I call a "blog novella" which is totally girlie fiction. It's called So Easy To Love and that is at http://theblognovella.blogspot.com/. Nice to meet everyone!

  4. I almost didn't stop by when I saw the words blogfest as that usually means a lot of work and I just don't have the energy for it, but this is GREAT! I love this idea! I will go to all the commenters here, and I'll twitter about it to hopefully get more women fiction writers to join in. Hooray for women's fiction, I love it! Especially the no longer politically correct chick lit LOL. I have published a women's fiction novel, Uncut Diamonds, and my second, House of Diamonds, is currently in editing and scheduled for release in 2011.

  8. Hi, Long live Women's Literature. AND Chick Lit. That's the genre I write. Since April, 2010, I have had SIX short stories published and will have NUMBER SEVEN on Thursday, October 7th, at The Long And The Short Of It (LASReviews).

After a career in fashion and broadcasting, my husband and I left the Manhattan "rat race" and moved to Vermont. I started writing in 2010 and so far...so good! Have a chick lit book in the works but I seem to be writing that at a snail's pace.

    My blog is http://originalshortstories-author.blogspot.com/

I'm in the process of more "construction" on the site. But it will give you a quick idea of who I am and what I write.

My controversial novella, Descending, was published in July 2010. Its a forbidden romance, full of sex and swearing, so not for the easily offended.
